“When Tree Die, Humans Die,” was an article that circulated around the internet in 2013 and it has started to go around again.
The article, originally published in a medical journal, started with research done by the USDA, “Trees and Human Health Evidence from the Spread of the Emerald Ash Borer.”
The conclusion was “Tree loss from the spread of the emerald ash borer is associated with increased mortality related to the cardiovascular and lower-respiratory systems. This relationship is particularly strong in counties with above-average median household income.
The authors said, “This fınding adds to the growing evidence that the natural environment provides major public health benefıts. There is increasing evidence from multiple scientifıc fıelds that exposure to the natural environment can improve human health.”
